Beloved radio, friends, we greet you in the precious name of the Lord Jesus, our Savior, and we give you a sincere invitation and ask that you will enjoy with us the greatest verse in the Bible. There are hundreds of verses in the Word of God from Genesis through to the book of the Revelation, but which verse in the whole Bible would you consider to be the greatest? and the most precious message that God has ever written to the whole human race. You may have many favorite verses in Scripture, but surely there is one above all others that has revealed the heart of God to every man, to every woman, and to every boy and girl. It stands supreme and preeminent in its breadth, in its length and depth and height. of divine truth and that verse is without any doubt the most familiar one to many people it is John chapter three and verse sixteen the incomparable story of God's love to you and to me my beloved friend written in only twenty-five words for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For the measureless, boundless truth, it has no equal in the Word of God, and it has been properly called as being the Bible or the Gospel in a nutshell. My beloved friend, you may find many many scriptures that are difficult to understand I'm sure of that but here is one verse that in its simplicity as well as in its profoundness can be considered and enjoyed by every person whether man woman or child whether one is educated or whether one may be illiterate no matter what race, color, or nationality may be ours. For this verse carries the message for all people, for all individuals in the whole world. No matter who they are, no matter where they are, and no matter what they are. And that includes you, my beloved listener. Listen to the words again. They were spoken by the Son of God when he was upon the earth, saying, For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Will you note very carefully and see very clearly that it is a declaration of God's love There are many attributes belonging to God in many ways that we know. But of all those attributes, this one is the most precious and comforting and of the greatest blessing to everyone who will believe it. It declares without any reservation the declaration of God's love, presenting it to us in its breadth, in its length, in its depth, and in its height. Boundless and measureless. But let me first of all, briefly today, give an outline of these truths from the text itself. We find within it, first of all, the breadth of God's love. That is stated by the opening words of our verse. for God so loved the world. Let me repeat it, for emphasis sake. We would consider, and we will be considering, from these words, the breadth of God's love, stated by the opening words, for God so loved the world. Meaning, the world of mankind. Every man, woman, boy and girl. The second truth in our verse which we shall consider ultimately, we shall find the length of God's love that He gave His only begotten Son. And please let us not forget, though the words may be brief, they imply He gave that Son to go to the cross of Calvary to redeem us. He gave his only begotten Son. Then we have, third, the depth of God's love, when in the words that follow we read, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, recognize the truth. God's love is so deep, It saves every man, woman, boy and girl from eternally perishing because of their sins and his righteous judgment upon us because of our iniquities. But God declares the depth of his love. He says, I can reach you. I can get underneath you. For whosoever believeth in me and in my son will not perish. Then we have thought. the height of God's love in the in the closing words but have everlasting life now let me please refer to the fact immediately this is not merely everlasting life in possession on the earth but blessed be God it carries us into the eternal future it says we shall never die eternally we shall be living with him and one adjoin to recognize from the depths of sin and shame, from a world of iniquity and lawlessness and wickedness, and the condemnation we deserve of going down to judgment to perish. God says, I'll lift you up to the highest glory and give to you everlasting life. May I repeat it? His love is boundless. in its breadth, boundless in its length, boundless in its depth, boundless in its height. Every sincere and true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, whether old or whether young, whether they are matured or whether they are an infant in Christ, will readily acknowledge this blessed truth. It has been well written by some Christian in poetry to say, And I quote the words, so nice they are, How thou canst think so well of me, and be the God thou art, is darkness to my intellect, but sunshine to my heart. Oh, my beloved, the words of John chapter three and verse sixteen, which we have quoted, from which we shall study, and sees the breadth, the length, the depth, and the height of God's love revealed to us, they are boundless. My beloved, I defy you to define any truth, any revelation of truth that is more infinite and measureless and boundless as the words of John chapter three and verse sixteen. by the grace and the help of God the Holy Spirit we trust we shall spend some time in our broadcast on meditating upon this verse of John three sixteen may I suggest again the title of it the gospel or the Bible in a nutshell and prayerfully consider with you the love of God as we shall note it in its breadth, in its length, in its depth, and in its height. I would like to encourage my friends that are listening to join us in the next broadcast when we shall dwell upon that blessed truth of twenty-five words presenting to all of us and all of mankind. the greatest message to the human race. It matters not whether we are black, yellow, red or white. As one of the children's songs we often have sung, all are precious in the sight of God. But the truth is still the same to everyone, for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Now, my beloved friend, may I re-emphasize once again in our closing moments? This is the greatest verse in the Bible, declaring the love of God. My beloved, there are many attributes of God. He's omnipotent. He's omniscient. He's omnipresent. He's almighty. He is immutable. He can never change. God can never be better and he can never be worse. You never can tell God to be good or to be bad. He never changes. His holiness is still and always eternally the same. But of all the precious truths relating in the word of God to the blessed God above, the most blessed one, that can reach the heart of the conscience and melt the stony heart of a sinner are the words declaring his love a declaration of his love in which he declares a solemn but in an eternal fact God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. So, my beloved listener, we invite you to tune in again at the same time and listen when we shall consider in detail the first section of our text declaring the breadth of God's love.
