Beloaded friends, we welcome you to the ministry of God's Word. We welcome you in the precious name of the Lord Jesus Christ. May the Spirit of God minister the blessed truth of the great and glorious gospel when we meditate upon two verses of Scripture, Second Corinthians five, verse twenty and twenty-one. Will you listen to the glorious words that were written by the Holy Spirit? through his beloved servant Paul. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us. We prayed you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made or become the righteousness of God in him. Second Corinthians five, twenty and twenty-one. Every studious Christian who has meditated upon this closing section of the chapter knows that the great theme of reconciliation is presented to our hearts, telling us that through Christ his beloved Son, God has mercifully restrained his hand of judgment upon the world of sinners by sending Christ to put away our sins. As the result of the work of Christ, God invites every man, woman, boy and girl to be reconciled to him. Let me quote part of the words in verse nineteen. God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. Instead of executing the deserved punishment, which we deserve and which someday will inevitably come upon the world of ungodly men, God Himself is seeking to have sinners reconciled, brought back to Himself in a right relationship. Now let me at this point make it very clear that God has never done anything against the world to imply that He needed to be reconciled to us. Never. It was not God needing to be reconciled to man, but the opposite. Man, you and I, we need to be reconciled to him, for all we like sheep have gone astray. He has never made one move away from us, but we ourselves have strayed from him. So it was God himself instituting the work of reconciliation and seeking us. which reminds me of a conversation I once heard between an executive and his secretary back in nineteen nineteen in the office where I was working they were talking together about the Bible and I heard the question raised by one saying what is the Bible the other person answered it is the story of man seeking God well immediately I interrupted and said oh no It is the story of God seeking man, and so it is. Did not the Lord Jesus say the Son of Man is come to seek and to say that which was lost? Luke nineteen and verse ten. My beloved radio friend, it is God Himself who initiated the work of reconciliation by sending Christ And when that work of reconciliation was done by Christ upon the cross, the message of reconciliation has been committed to the servants of Christ. So Paul well writes, We are ambassadors for Christ as though God did beseech you by us. We pray ye in Christ's stead be ye reconciled to God. The opposite to the word reconciliation is alienation, meaning to be far away from God. My beloved friend, if you right now may be far away from God, he is asking you to come to him through Christ and his atoning work upon the cross and be reconciled. Well, did the hymn writer express what you and I should do? when he wrote saying, I've wandered far away from God, now I'm coming home, the paths of sin too long I've trod, now I'm coming home. Now a question ought to be raised. Why is it that you and I can be reconciled to God? What is the reason that God is able to invite all sinners to come unto him our text in second Corinthians five and verse twenty one gives the answer we read it as following because because God hath made Christ sin for us the one who knew no sin that we might be made or become the righteousness of God in him by the help of the Spirit of God We would like carefully to study these words, and together may we seek to fully understand what God reveals to us so that you and I can be perfectly and also eternally reconciled to Him. In the closing moments of this present broadcast, please let me present to you an outline of this one verse covering very important facts which can be found within it and will be under prayerful consideration as we follow the study of the scripture first of all may we state there are three important facts in our scripture verse concerning God himself of which we can learn much it concerns the sovereignty of God It also concerns the justice of God, and it again continues to tell us something about the grace of God. Let me repeat it. We shall study it in detail. Three important facts relating to God Himself, which you and I can profit by, regarding His sovereignty, regarding His justice, and regarding his grace. Then a second section of three important facts will be found concerning the Son of God, God the Son that we may enjoy concerning him. First of all, something concerning his impeccability, meaning his incorruptibility, the sinless character of his life. Second, we shall see much regarding and concerning his sufferings and his great atoning death. And third, we shall see that which concerns the merit of Christ, the merit of the Lord Jesus, which is for you and for me, on our behalf extended to us by God through him. Let me repeat them concerning the Son of God. Three important facts. His impeccability, meaning, is sinless, purity, holiness of life. Second, those blessed sufferings and also His great atoning death. And third, the wonderful merit of His grace whereby you and I can enjoy the favor of God, though we fully Never deserve them. Now there are also three important facts within our birth concerning ourselves. Concerning you, my beloved friend, and concerning me. One fact will be revealed concerning our sin and our guilt. A second fact will reveal to us there is something relating to our deliverance. from our sin and our guilt. And last of all, third, relating to a new condition which we can have before God and will have when we are saved. Let me repeat it again, concerning ourselves. First, in relation to our sin and our guilt. Second, in relation to our deliverance we can find from our sin and guilt. And third, relating to a new condition which can be ours and will be ours when we have Christ as our Savior. Now let me repeat the words of this wonderful text. Second Corinthians chapter five and verse twenty one. For God hath made him, and that is Christ, his beloved Son, sinned, not to commit sin but a sacrifice for sin for us the one who knew no sin that we might be made or become the righteousness of God in him oh my beloved radio friend the great truth that are found in these blessed words they clearly prove to every one of us and to every sinner We can be reconciled to God. Well, did the poet write in the hymn, This is the message that I bring, a message that angels pain would sing. O be ye reconciled, thus said my Lord and King, O be ye reconciled to God. What a privilege it is to know that as an ambassador for Christ I can truly say, I am a stranger here. My home is far away upon the golden strand. Ambassador to thee of realms beyond the sea. I am here on business for my king. And this is the message which I can bring. Yes, a message that angels certainly would enjoy singing, if they possibly could. O be ye reconciled, thus saith my Lord and King, Obe, ye reconciled to God. My beloved radio friend, if you are unsaved, God is bidding you to come to him through Christ. Your alienation can come to an end. Your straying away from God and wandering from his presence and his blessed person may end and will end today. If you will indeed come home through the Lord Jesus, trusting him as your Savior, and receive your forgiveness of sins and be reconciled to God. Our beloved and blessed Father, in the precious name of the Lord Jesus, honor thy blessed word. May some dear friend never saved before be reconciled to thee today. In our Saviour's name we ask it.
