Welcome aboard. Our song today, Cups of Cold Water. During World War II, seven Navy men drifted helplessly out at sea. They were on a plane that threatened to sink at any moment. By radio, they made contact and were saved. One man told of how they valued water. They rationed it out one or two teaspoons a day. They took an oath that if they were ever rescued, they would never pass a drinking fountain without taking a drink. Now here's our song, Cups of Cold Water. Selfing the widows and orphans in their knees, Dealing the sick ones and binding hearts as we, Feeding the hungry, Concerns the Lord above, By this we serve Him and demonstrate His love. Cups of salt water are never given to Him. Some day in heaven, when we meet the Lord, each need of kindness will bring our rich reward. Matthew chapter ten, if you cling to your life, you will lose it. But if you give it up for me, you will save it. Those who welcome you are welcoming me, and when they welcome me, they are welcoming God who sent me. If you welcome a prophet because he is a man of God, you will be given the same reward a prophet gets. But if you welcome good and godly men because of their godliness, you will be given a reward like theirs. And if, as my representatives, you give even a cup of cold water to a little child, you will surely be rewarded. sharing the gospel with sinners gone astray holding the light up so they can find a way lifting the fallen This we must surely do, if to our calling as Christians we are true. Come the call upon us. Come the water, give and see. The Lord Jesus said in Mark nine forty one, For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. We need to first of all drink of the water of life ourselves, so that we belong to Christ, and then we'll have cups of cold water for those about us.
