I John chapter one and verse seven. But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his son, cleansed us from all sin. We say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not enough. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. My little children, these things I write unto you that ye sin not, and if any man sinned, we have an advocate with the Father Jesus Christ. the righteous. Now, last week we started our message on the blood of Christ. We'll likely continue them after Mr. Gibbs is here next Sunday, possibly two weeks from today. We'll speak again on this all-important subject. Last week we were speaking upon the need for cleansing, and that need is because of sin. There has been no need whatsoever for the coming of Christ. His birth at Bethlehem would have had no meaning. His precious blood being shed upon the cross would have been absolutely a catastrophe, a tragedy, something absolutely unnecessary had it not been for sin. Because sin was in the world, God sent His Son to die. And so we noticed last week the need for this cleansing. Sin as a root. and sin as a fruit. Now we're all born into this world with sin in us as a root, but then it comes out in sins. That is the fruit. We also notice that sinfulness is a character. We also pointed out that sin is universal and sin is attractive. Men and women love pleasure more than they love God. Now that's Quite a thing, isn't it, that sin can out-attract God. It does. You read about the pleasures of sin which are but for a season, and the reason there are more people out of church this morning than in the church is certainly because sin is more attractive to them than God. So sin can out-attract-attract God. Now this morning I want to speak upon the strength of sin and that sin is usual and sin is a habit and sin is a surprise. Sin is strong. Sin is a spy within the cattle, a traitor within the camp. It's a fifth columnist behind the lines. Sin will betray every time and if we'd only catch up on the supple they of sin, because sin is something, and sin will get you in the end. There's no question about that. Sin is like a communist, a hardcore communist. He says, I'm going to get you, but I don't tell you when or how, but I'm going to get you. That sin, sin's going to get you in the end. And if you don't believe that, go out and look at your cemetery. The wages of sin is death. Sin has already got the bodies of those people. But then there's a verse over in Revelation that tells you that sin will get the soul to. It's in Revelation chapter fourteen, and the smoke of their torment ascended up wherever and ever they have no rest, day nor night. The rich man died, and in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torment. gets the soul in the end of all who refuse to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. So sin is going to get you the end. And it certainly has evidence it's getting a good hold on some of you here this morning. Every indication that sin is getting its way, sin working in our members to bring forth truth unto death. All sickness and all signs of decline and decay are just evidence that sin is going to get you in the end. It's like the Mississippi River. It starts small and slow, but it becomes so broad and so swift, there's no dam can stop it on its street to the sea. Sin begins small, but eventually becomes so strong. You just can't stop. I could mention a number of habits that some of you people have. You can't stop them. The power of sin sin is strong, and it's going to get you in the end. Make no mistake about that. I heard on the newscast this past week of a certain man, seventy-nine years of age, he's been lecturing now practically all his life that man can live forever. claims to discover the secret many years ago that as the tissues of the body break down they can be replaced by eating the proper food with the right minerals and everything to replace the deteriorating tissues and it's not necessary for a man to die but let me tell you one thing the undertakers are going to be in business until jesus comes and he died the other day of seventy nine Yet he's been lecturing all his life that man will live forever. No, friend, sin gets you in the end. The wages of sin is death. And sin is working in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. The graying hair, the wrinkle brow, the stoop form, the slackening paste, the short breath, all these signs and indications are that sin's working. Sin is working. treatment tonight and it's working in you and it's so strong you can't stop at progress that's it the wages of sin is death then sin is usual in other words you don't have to teach a child to do wrong you have to teach children to do right you never have to teach a child to do wrong it's got a nature in there that wants to do wrong it's the usual thing for a child to do wrong as a way and for a measure of moral correction and a moral atmosphere and includes in the home and then the spiritual influence of the church, why they would do wrong a whole lot quicker and a whole lot more. And the reason for so many delinquents in our world is because many of those kids don't go anywhere near a church or a Sunday school. They know nothing of a Bible in the home and they start to be criminals at a very early age. It's a usual thing. See? come out of a human being. Then sin is a habit. A lot of people think nothing of it. They sin. They don't think anything of it. I've tried to check a couple of fellows on various occasions. I've taken the Lord's name in vain and said, well, I'm sorry, preacher, but he said, I just don't think anything of it. And that can be said about other things. Sin just becomes a habit and you're doing. And you're just not conscious of doing it. then sin can be a surprise. Our text says if any man sins, the little word if implies a measure of surprise. Any man's sin if sin happens to catch you by surprise. And sin is a surprise. The Apostle Paul says, when the commandment came, when the Word of God came to me, sin revived and I died. Why is it I was guilty of certain sins that I didn't know? until I heard the Word of God. And when the Word of God came, sin revived. I was taken by surprise, and I discovered that I was a lost and guilty sinner. There are a lot of you people right here this morning that I could be guilty of something that I wouldn't think to be sin until the Word of God shows. Paul says, I would never have known thou shalt not covet, except the Bible that said that. He said the word of God revealed a certain sin that I was ignorant of. And I was surprised when I discovered that that sin, and that's the wonderful thing about the word of God. It'll show man what sin really is. If I were to turn you back to Leviticus, I think it's the fifth chapter, God says there, if a man swears near you, now to get this, this is God's estimate of sin. If a man swears nearby and you hear that language, that swear, that oath, you've got to go and take an offering. You have been defiled by what you heard. But I couldn't help a man swear. I know you couldn't, but you were defiled just the same. And if any man is defiled by a dead body, somebody dropped dead right beside him, or somebody got killed. Well, I couldn't help that. I know you couldn't, but you were defiled by it. You were in the presence of debt. You heard cursing and swearing. Therefore, go and get your animal and offer it up for a sacrifice. That's God's estimate of sin. The trouble is we look at sin from our viewpoint, not at God's viewpoint. We've got to see sin as God sees sin and accept the fact that's taught plainly in the Old Testament. How we can become defiled by things we do not do. Others do them, but we're affected by them. In the Old Testament they had to go and get an animal, but in the New Testament we have Christ. And so it goes to show you how sin can catch some people by absolute surprise. I think of Kesa up in Augusta. I believe I referred to once or twice before, but not in the connection that I'm going to mention it now. Mr. and Mrs. Lugar, seventy-five years of age, were saved in meetings we had up there. It was their seventy-fifth birthday. They were not Christians, although they had been very moral people, very respectable, and in a measure religious, they had gone to the church, but they came to some meetings we had up there, and one night the two of them stayed back. Well, they were a cute old couple, all dressed up for their anniversary, and they came up as we were singing the closing hymn, and wanted to be spoken to and I direct them into the room on my left at the chapel there and I went in and had a chat with them and I said well do you want to be saved yeah we want to be saved well do you know you're lost oh no he said we're not lost we we lived a good life both of us and we we've gone to church on occasions we've never been really regular attendance at church and we try to do good to our neighbor So after a little talk with them, I said, I think you better come back to the meetings a little more. Come tomorrow night. We're going on another week, so come every night. I think there are some things you need to learn. I don't think you're ready to be saved yet. So very unhappily they left the room. And as they got out in the auditorium, I followed them out by a young lady who had gotten saved two or three nights before Mrs. Stewart. She was as happy as could be. And she knew the old couple. And she went up and she said, well, did you get saved? And Mr. Lugar dropped his head. He said, no. He didn't. He said, we weren't ready to get saved. Well, she says, you want to be saved, don't you? Why, sure, we do. Otherwise, we wouldn't have gone in that room. I said, Mr. Lugar, do you really want to be saved? He said, yes, I do, Mr. Wilson. I said, all right, I took my Bible. I said, do you feel that you're a lost sinner going to hell? No, he said, I don't feel I'm a lost sinner going to hell. I said, if God says you are, would you believe that? Oh, yes. He said, if God said I was. He said, if you can show me that in the Bible, I'm a lost sinner going to hell. He said, I'll have to believe it, whether I feel it or not. I said, all right. And I turn to various verses, verse after verse. We've all together become ungodly. Christ died for the ungodly. We've all sinned. We've come short of the glory of God. And I refer to text after text that shows us what we are, especially Romans chapter three, all those indictments against the human race. So I said, Mr. Luger, are you lost? He said, I don't feel it, Mr. Wilson, but God says I am, so I am. Now that's the point. Then I referred to a number of other things. Do you feel it? No, he said I don't, but he says God says it and I've got to believe. That's the point, friend. If we could only get men and women to see it's what God says, we've got to go by. If God says a thing, I've got to accept it, whether I believe it or whether I don't. Finally, I said, well then, if you were to die now, where would you go, Mr. Lugar? He said, I'd go to hell. What about all your good deeds? Well, he said, you've shown me in the Bible that God says they're all filthy rags. All our righteousness, all our good deeds are as filthy rags as we haven't been born again. So he said, there's no other place for me to go. you show me in the Bible that he the believer not is condemned or he's damned so he said I just go to hell it's in the Bible God says that I believe well now you want to be saved oh I certainly do I give anything to be saved so I turned to the scriptures and showed them how God loved us and gave Christ to die for us and how he suffered on the cross in our stead I said Mr. Luger did you feel that Jesus suffered on the cross. Do you feel now that he suffered on the cross for you? No, he said, I don't feel. But he did suffer for you. Certainly he suffered for me. God said, I said, Jesus got the feeling, didn't he? You don't feel any nails crashing through your hands, carrying the sinews and the nerves and the muscles apart. You don't feel nails going through your feet. You don't feel that, do you? Jesus Christ felt that. So do you feel that Jesus died for your sins on the cross? He said, no, I don't. Well, do you believe he did? Well, if it's in the Bible, I'll believe he did. Well, I said, all right, it's right in the Bible here. First Peter, two-twenty-four, who with our own self bear our sins in his own body on the tree. First Peter, three and eighteen, Christ also had once suffered for sins. He the just for us, the unjust, that we might be brought to God. Now I said, did Jesus Christ suffer for your sins, Mr. Luther? He said he did. Do you feel that he did? No, he said, I don't feel that he did, but I know he did. because God says. I said, are you willing to accept that fact that Jesus died for your sins? He paid your debt? He suffered in your stead upon the cross because God says it in this book? Yes, he says, I will. I've got to. He said, that's God's word. You can't deny God. See, he was a very religious man. He didn't cuss or gamble. He was a very religious. He said, that's what God says. I've got to believe God in spite of myself. All right, I said we've covered two points. You're lost and going to hell, not because you feel it, but because God says so. Is that right? That's right. Then you believe that Jesus Christ died upon the cross for your sins and paid your debt, not because you feel it, but because God says so. Is that right? He says, that's right. I said, are you saved? Do you have everlasting life? No, he said, I don't feel it. You don't feel it, sir. No, he said, I don't. If I were to show you here that God says you are when you accept his son, would you believe that? Yes, he said, sure, I believe. All right, let's see what the Bible says. Verily, verily, I say of you, he that heareth my word and believeth on him that sent me. Have, right now, have everlasting life. John five, twenty-four. And shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life. These things have I written unto you, says God, that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, everlasting life. Now I said, Mr. Lugred, it says here, if you believe that Jesus Christ, first you believe you're lost, but God says so, then you believe that Jesus died upon the cross, suffered in your stead, shed his blood to put your sins away. That's what God says. You believe that. I sure do believe. Well, that same God says, if you believe that with all your heart, you have everlasting life and you shall never perish. Do you believe that? Yes, he says, I believe it with all my heart. When do you believe it? He said, I believe it right now, because God says it. God said, well, I said, he says, he that believeth, have everlasting life. that thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in thy heart that God is raised from the dead, thou shalt be saved. God says that, are you saved, Mr. Luke? Yes, he says, I am saved. How do you know you're saved? God says it, he says, and I am going to accept that I am going to believe it. Well, I said, what about the feeling? Well, he said, I feel saved too now. He said, I feel saved now because he said, I believe what God says. Now that's the whole thing. How can you feel saved or have the assurance you're saved unless you've rested your soul upon what God says in his precious life? And so says the apostle, when the word of God came to me, say, Levi, I saw something I never saw before, I saw sins I've never committed. And he says, I discovered right there through the word of God that I was a lost sinner, dead and fattened and in sin. Friend, that's where the supplies come in. A lot of you people have joined churches. You're members of churches. You may hold office in the churches. And yet you don't know right now that you're going to heaven. You do not know that you have everlasting life. You can't say, I've got peace with God. You can't say if I'd have drawn my last breath in this moment, I'd go to be with Christ in glory. You hope that would be the case. But you don't know it. You don't know it. And I'll tell you why you don't know it. You haven't rested your weary soul, your lost soul, upon God's precious word. We're born again by the word of God which liveth and abideth for that. Feelings don't enter into it until after you're saved. Then you know it. on the authority of God's word you do have everlasting. If you can show me in your Bible where joining the church and getting baptized will save you, I'd like to see it. If you can show me in the Bible where your good life will take you to heaven, I'd like to see it. My Bible says in Ephesians two, eight and nine, that by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, let any man should boast. Romans four and five says that without the works of the law we are saved. It tells you that, not by the works of the law. And Titus three five, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he has saved us. So it's not your works. It's not what you do. It's what Jesus Christ did for you upon the cross that saved you. And are you willing to accept that fact? Without faith it's impossible to please God. Here is where the surprises that come in with many people when they come to hear the gospel. Well that's new to me. I thought my good life would have some way. I thought my money would have some way. I thought some office I might hold and the church might carry me through. My good deeds, my consideration of the poor, the old friend. Let this come as a surprise to you this morning. It's right in this blessed book that none of those things will take you to heaven. This book says we've altogether become unprofitable. We're a poor investment for God until we've been born again. There's none that doeth good, no not one. When I come to an end of myself and take God at his precious word and say, Lord, if you say I'm a sinner, I'm a sinner. If you say I'm lost, I'm lost. If you say I'm going to hell, I'm going to hell. If you say you love me, I believe it. If you say you gave Christ a die for me on the cross, I believe that. If you say he shed his blood to put my sins away, I believe that. If you say he paid my debt, I believe that. you say by accepting him right now as my personal Savior on the authority of your word will save me and take me to heaven. Lord, I believe that. I've got your word for me. That's salvation. We're born again by the word of God which liveth and abideth forever. The wonderful thing when people see that, my feelings fluctuate. But me be my feelings what they will see that is my Savior's sake. A person can be mighty happy one night and they meet something they shouldn't before they go to bed. They're anything but happy and they feel anything but good during the night. Their salvation depended upon happy feelings. They'd be in bad shape. Friend, my salvation depends upon this blessed book. That's it. Time and time again the Lord Jesus said to individuals, Go in faith. Go in peace. Thy faith has saved us. What did they have? His word. He says, Me and my word. Believe my word. Believe my word. If you don't believe God's word, you can have all the feelings and thrills you like. If you don't trust Him at His word, you're making God a liar. Now that's what it says right here in this very passage. So here is sin, how strong it is. And sin, what a habit, and what a surprise. Now the ground of cleansing. What's the ground of cleansing? We read it in verse seven, the closing part. And the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son cleansed us from all sin. Here you have the fluid, the liquid that puts away sin's stain. This familiar fluid that flowed through Emmanuel's veins. When the nails went through his hands and through his feet, and later on when the soldier took the spear and split his heart in twain, there came their outblood and walked. There I see on that cross flowing down the body of the Son of God. His body became as crimson as a rose. Why, after his life was as white and as pure as a lily, yet in his death his body was made as crimson as red as a rose. That's the blood, friend, of payment for your sin and mine. That's what puts sin away. The blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son here, says, cleanseth us from all sin. That's the fluid, that's the liquid, the sin. You know, some people think that this language, the blood of Christ, is kind of coarse and crude. I have met some of these very refined, so-called religious people. Oh, I just can't think of this. Referring to the blood of Christ, I think it's awful. It's horrible. Is it? Yet those same people speak very patriotically about the blood of our soldier boys, the shed on the battlefield. That's all right. They like to speak of the boys who shed their blood in our battlefield, but they don't like to think of the blood of Christ who shed upon the cross for our sin. So this is the only way. God speaks of the blood. He says the church which ye have purchased, and that's a staggering statement. You read it over in Acts chapter twenty. the church of God which he has purchased with his own blood. There is the very blood of God, the church which he has purchased with his own blood. And Jesus Christ himself speaks of his blood. You take the Apostle Paul time and time again he refers to the blood. John speaks of the blood. Peter speaks of the blood. In I Peter I and I were not redeemed with such corruptible things as silver and gold from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without spot, without blemish. All the apostles speak of the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleansing from all sin. Whose blood? How wonderful, verse seven, the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son. The blood of Jesus. That's the perfect man. He was not merely man. He was truly man. If Jesus Christ had had one sin tied to his account, if he had been guilty of one evil thought, he couldn't have been your substitute in mind. Jesus Christ had to be sinless. before his sacrifice would be accepted for sinners. That's why man had nothing to do with the birth of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ had no human father. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit. Had he had an earthly father, he would have been a sinner. Because Adam's sin, which had been passed from generation to generation, For as by one man sin, you read in Romans five, twelve, for as by one man sin enters into the world, and death by sin so death hath passed upon all men, for all sin. And just as the features oftentimes are very similar to the parent, physically speaking, so there's something more serious that is passed on from parent to child, and that sin, a sinful nature. sinfulness. Jesus Christ didn't have that. It says he was without sin. He did no sin. It says he could not sin. Those three things are said about the Lord Jesus. So he's sinless. Therefore he qualifies to die for sin. I couldn't die for you. You couldn't die for me because I was a sinner. You were a sinner. One sinner can't die for another sinner. If someone's going to die for our sin, he must be without sin. That's where Jesus Christ came in. And he had to come from heaven before he could qualify to be our substitute. Jesus. Christ, the blood of Jesus Christ. Now Jesus speaks of his humanity. Christ, the Messiah, the anointed of Israel. Jesus Christ. be Christ, the anointed one, the accepted one, the risen one. That's it. Not only so he goes further, he says, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleansed us from all sin. Isn't that remarkable? It's the blood of a sinful man, sinless man, a perfect man, a true man, But it's the blood of the Messiah, the anointed of God. It's the blood of the Son of God, God's Son. That's why it's so valuable. That's why it's so efficacious. That's why in the Old Testament anything that was figurative of it was not allowed to be trampled underfoot. You take the lamb that was offered in Exodus chapter twelve. What did God say? strangle the blood on the two side posts of your doors in the upper lintel. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. There is to be no blood on the doorstep. God says this blood is figurative. It's foreshadowing the blood of my son that's going to be shed at Calvary, and I don't want any of it trampled on. Because the blood of Christ Friend, there are men and women today who are traveling underfoot. And you read this in Hebrews chapter twelve. They're traveling underfoot the blood of Christ. And counting the blood of the covenant were with him, he was sanctified and on holy fame and on death's flight under the Spirit of grace. And if you're not a Christian today, there are just two classes in this meeting. There are those who are sheltered by the blood of Christ overhead and down each side. the two side posts on the upper lip your sins are put away with the blood of Christ and you're sheltered by the blood of Christ either that or you're trampling that blood under your feet that's a solemn thing if you're a born-again believer you're sheltered by the blood of Christ and that precious blood has put your sins away if you're not born again you're trampling the blood of Christ under your feet which is a fearful effect in your time. You may be religious, respectable, and all the rest of it, but if you're not saved, you're lost. If you're not sheltered by the blood of Christ, you're trampling it under your feet as of now. Now, you can read that in the Old Testament. So it's the blood of Jesus, Christ, God's Son, the blood of theod. Cleansing. That's a wonderful word. Cleansing. It has the property, the efficacy, and the ability to cleanse you from all sins. Isn't that remarkable? Oh, this precious blood, how powerful it is. It has the ability, I say again. It has the power, the efficacy. It has that property within it. And it cleanse you from all your sins, every sin you've ever committed. As I mentioned last week, it matters not. the nature of your sin, whether it's stealing or whether it's swearing or drunkenness or adultery, lying, gambling, even murder. God can save a murderer. He may not save him from the electric chair. God in government permits justice to take its course, but God in grace can save that murderer if you trust the blood of Christ. There's a sin, too, in that horrible category I've mentioned. and the sin most people are guilty of, and that's unbelief. You find lots of people, and why is it I often refer to people who are so religious and so refined and educated and cultured, good living folks, members of the church, and giving their money and all the rest of it, yet they're lost. They're not guilty of these other things I've mentioned. They're guilty of unbelief. They're guilty of unbelief. They haven't, and I mean that word unbelief. is not a theoretical knowledge it's not believing jesus christ like you believe in columbus discovering america historical figure it's believing in jesus christ to the point that your soul is saved and you know it faith that's saved a lot of people need to be convicted of the fact they haven't exercised that faith oh yeah sure they believe in jesus christ they've heard about them all their life they'll rot up in the hole They believed in Jesus. They heard about him Christmas time. And they went to Sunday school. Sure they believe in Jesus. But are you born again? Do you know your sins are forgiven? Do you have everlasting life? Do you know if you were to die right now, you'd go dead? Well, no, I can't say that. Then you don't believe in Jesus Christ. You think you do. You're trying. But you just don't. you haven't fully trusted Christ as a lost and guilty sinner. That's the book. That's the sin. The Spirit of God singles out that he's got to convict men and women of in John chapter sixteen. To convict the world of sin. Now what does he say? How does he classify that sin? Murder, drunkenness, gambling, though of sin says Jesus because they believe not on me. And if they believe not on me, where I go they cannot come. The sin of unbelief is the parent of all these other sins. The reason people do these other things is because they haven't really accepted Christ as saving things, trusted them for their soul salvation. Yes, it says the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleanseth us from all sin. It has in it that power. to cleanse the heart and the conscience of all sin. You know, sometimes these men, a lot of amateurs in following the case, know very well the man's guilty, but he's been able to hire a pretty shrewd lawyer, and finally he's acquitted. I know one case in particular I'm not going into, and any amateur in reading the newspaper knows he was guilty of that case of murder. But he got off. He had the shrewdest lawyer that was. He had the money to pay for him. And he went out to his last remark was, thank God for American justice. Well, now, you may think that you pulled the wool over people's eyes. you walked out of that courtroom and you've been acquitted. But friend, will you go to bed at night or during the day you know you didn't? That verdict of the jury and the judge is you're acquitted. Although you think it's kind of cleared you in the eyes of the public, yet your conscience knows the truth. You haven't deceived your conscience. You know that blood is standing your hand. You know you did it. And no verdict of a jury or no verdict from a judge or not even public opinion can see that from your conscience. You know you did it. That's the point of the blood of Christ. It goes right in and it penetrates your conscience and it cleanses your conscience. and you can stand before God and say, all my sins are forgiven. They're washed away in the precious blood of Jesus Christ. He paid my debt. He paid my penalty at Calvary. How wonderful it is to know that you have been saved through the precious blood of Christ. The blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, planted us from all sin. I want to say this. It has to be applied. The children of Israel had to take a bunch of hyssop, which was the most familiar plant in that day. It speaks of faith, such a popular thing. And they dipped that bunch of hyssop in the basin of blood, and they applied it to the two side posts and up a lint. They couldn't leave the blood in the basin. That wouldn't save them. They had to apply it. And friend, you've got to apply it. Not enough that you believe that that blood trickled down his body at the cross. That's not enough. you've got to apply it you've got to say that blood was shed for me Jesus shed that blood from my sin he died in my stead he paid my debt and I will free that's it have you ever done that not have you joined the church not have you been baptized not have you turned over newly have you applied the blood have you trusted the blood of Christ for your passport to heaven your only way the mansions in the sky. I think one of the most beautiful hymns I know was given out when I went home last summer to see my folks in Canada. And a brother got up and he gave this out and I haven't heard it since I was home in Canada many, many years ago. And I wrote it out. It's a beautiful hymn. It says, O precious blood, though glorious death, by which the sinner lives. When stung by sin this blood we viewed, with all our joy divine, the blood that purchased our release and purged our crimson stain. We challenge earth and hail to show a sin it cannot cleanse. Our scarlet crimes are made as wool, and we brought nigh to God, thanks to that wrath appeasing death, that heaven procuring blood. That blood that makes his glorious church from every blemish free, and owe the riches of his love, he poured it out for me. The Father's everlasting love and Jesus' precious blood shall be our endless theme of praise and yonder bliss above. In patience let us then possess our souls till he appears. Our head already is in heaven, that we shall soon be there. that's through his precious blood. For in the book of Revelation they sing unto him that loves us and washes us from our sins in his own blood. Let me ask you this morning, do you know the power, the efficacy of the blood of Christ? You can cut this book wherever you like from Genesis to Revelation and it will bleed with the blood of Christ. Back into the Old Testament, see the blood of bulls and of goats, lambs, pointing to the blood of Christ. Come to the Gospels, the blood is shed. Read the New Testament, then it points you back to the blood of Christ. Do you know it values? Has it washed away all your estate? Can you say this morning, precious, precious blood of Jesus? Share on account. shed for rebels and for sinners, shed for the people. If you can say that with all your heart on the authority of this blessed book, then God says thou shalt be saved. The blood of Jesus Christ God's Son cleansed us from all. And if you've got your Bible, put a marker, ring around that little word, A-W-L, all sin. All. That's how wonderful, powerful, efficacious, His blood is. You can reach back into the past and apprehend your first sin. You can reach into the future and grasp your last sin. You can embrace all sins in between. Put them away. If only you'll trust this precious, precious blood. God help you as a sinner. So to do this morning. And you'll be saved. That is prayer. Our Father in heaven, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we come into thy presence. We thank thee for thy word that tells us so much about the blood of Christ. We thank thee, Father, that we read in thy word that it's the only way to be saved. Thou hast told us, without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin. and the life of the flesh is in the blood that now is given it upon the altar to make an atonement for our souls. We pray that thou bless thy word. May someone in our audience open his or her heart to this precious truth and trust the blood of Christ for salvation we ask it in our sick. Let us sing that familiar hymn because it has reference to the blood of Christ in the very first verse number two hundred and twenty six just as I am without one plea but that thy blood was shed for me that thou didst to me come to thee O Lamb of God I come
